About the Band and Its Members

Traditional celtic music performed by Karen Curry, Cathy Kerry, Chris Peterson and Laurel Twomey. We play in and around Orange County, CA. If you're looking for an upbeat, fun group with a great sound, you've found it! We perform shows and concerts from major theaters to small pubs.

We all first met when we played with the group, The Tinker's Own. When our lives took different directions and one by one we had to withdraw from the Tinkers, we gravitated together to jam. Pretty soon we found that people wanted to hire us to play‚ and we were forced to come up with a name for our group. Since we felt that our style was in the tradition of a jam session, we settled on "The Seisun" (pronounced "session") as the best choice.

The Band Members

Cathy Kerry
plays killer fiddle. She spent five seasons playing at the southern Renaissnace Pleasure Faire, and has been involved in contradance music, smaller California ren faires, and jamming in and around Orange County for many years. She is also a wonderfullly talented graphic artist.

Karen Curry
began her musical life singing and playing piano, viola and clarinet. She sang in musical theater productions and has been featured in several shows including South Pacific, Barnum, The King and I, and Gypsy. After discovering the Irish harp at a local County Fair, she got the folk bug, and now plays harp, concertina, bodhran, and pennywhistle, as well as singing. She also composes for the band.

Chris Peterson
comes to us with a wide background in folk music and plays a mean hammered dulcimer, as well as guitar. He composes wonderful tunes and does vocals for the group. He has been a member of Dulcimania and The Oakwood Singers. For many years, Chris could be found at local Renaissance Faires, singing and performing on his hammered dulcimer.

Laurel Twomey is an amazing woodwind player. She studied clarinet through college, and has a broad background in Renaissance music as well. She comes equipped with a complete set of recorders, soprano through bass, as well as pennywhistle, and when not playing these, she backs us up on concertina or mandolin.
