The Life & Times of the Meekers
Trying to get the site
updated. Amber read through the
last one and gave me a hard time on my typos and the fact that I got the
name of the hotel wrong. As some of
you are aware, there has been a study that shows we (people in general) do
not read every word and/or letter as we read. The eye sends the images to the brain and the brain assumes
what the words are. Well, we all
know what assuming gets us! The
name of the hotel in Hawaii was the Fairmont Orchid. It was
beautiful there. We had a wonderful
time. We went around the entire
island, saw the volcano, the black sand beach, tried to find the green sand
beach, went on a zodiac trip to a cove for snorkeling. One of Dan’s customers took us to Bubba
Gump’s Shrimp House for dinner one night.
Another night, another customer took us to Roy’s for dinner. Roy’s is a famous restaurant in Hawaii
and has several locations on the mainland.
The food was so good. I
have a few digital pictures I’ll try to put on the site. I’ll have to scan others to add. Hawaii is three hours behind California
time, so I kept getting up at 3 or 4 am (6 or 7 am here at home). Dan was really good about getting up and
doing things with me even though it was so early. I didn’t want to miss anything. The
children did great while we were gone.
Although there was some sickness going on before, during and after
we left. Sara was feverish when we
left. Amber and Cassi had had it a
few days before, so we weren’t too worried to leave her. Then the Friday we left, Grandpa had to
go get Micki from school at 10:30 am because she had a fever. They had a lot of fun at Grandma and
Grandpa’s house. The
first six weeks of school and gymnastics, and first five weeks of dance are
almost over. The girls are doing
well in school. Their reading is
not going as well as the teachers or I would like. They don't like to read. I wish they did. There is so much out there if only
they’d read! Cassi has started dance
class. She loves it. Sara would love to be able to dance
too. She sits in her stroller and
kicks her feet and laughs. Some day
she will dance too. This is a
picture of Miss Sara and her new leg braces. She likes them most of the time, but her feet do get sore so
we have to take them off. Her feet
have grown almost a full size since she got them.

her first dance class:

Tuxedo
Strawberries (a gift from a customer)

Hawaiian
graffiti. It’s all over the
island. They put this at the
entryway to the hotel.

The
following 2 pictures are ones I scanned for the web page. They look a LOT better in print!

We saw these
dolphins on our zodiac rafting/ snorkeling trip.
This one
isn’t half as beautiful on here as it is in print.
