SpaceJockey's Tribute to

Gail!!!

Here I am, recently seperated and started looking to get a life again. I met Gail through the Internet then, taking a chance I would have never taken before, I went to visit her. We hit it off so well, she's now coming to visit me. Since I don't have any pictures of her yet, I've built a page of various romatic pictures
We started out budding Cyber Romanace one Saturday morning exchanging breakfast ideas. Again via Electronic cards we had and . To drink, we couldnt agree so she had and I had . From there, things deteriorated into a form of a food fight that I won't go into the details here.

Needless to say, we found we had a lot in common and except for the short time I was able to visit with her, our entire relationship has been over the Internet. I won't go into some of the details of our communications, but they proved effective enough for her to want to pay a visit to me, even after my visit to her. Its about 3 hours driving time one way and since we both work and have our own responsibilities in our respective locations, any get togethers have to be closly coordinated.

We now get together whenever we can. So far its just been every other weekend, but that doesn't seem to be enough for either of us. It looks like one or the other of us will be making the trip nearly every weekend. Since neither of us can seem to get anything done between visits (we spend nearly all our free time chatting over the Internet) and nothing seems to get done during our visits, we've decided that the only way we'll get anything done is to help each other out during our visits. I'll have to let everyone know how that works out after we've tried it for a while.

4/98 Update. Well, we're still seeing each other about every other weekend, but decided we had to get something done in between. We agreed not to get on-line during the week until 8:00 pm which gives Gail about 3 hours and me about 2 hours to get some things done. Then on the weekends we're not together, we let each other know our schedules and meet up on-line when we're both between tasks or finished for the day. Gail was over to my place weekend before last and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. As usual, we tried to figure a way we could spend more time together. Had planned on working on the Web pages then, but never got around to it. We found enough other things to keep us occupied. I'll be going over to her place this coming weekend, so no Web page work will go on. Her interface to the Web is through WebTV. I keep trying to talk her into a real computer, but she's afraid she'll never be able to learn how to use it. Maybe next week I'll be able to do some more work on this page. In the meantime, if you stop by, sign our Guestbook. We're both looking for feedback from anyone who might drop by.

6/28/98. I've had a couple responses saying to keep this going, so here I go. Its been almost 2 months since my last update and we still see each other nearly every other weekend. We only missed once because we both weren't feeling very well so we just waited til the following weekend. Since the last update Gail bought a Stereo system and since she didn't have anywhere to set it, also bought an entertainment center that would accomodate both her TV and Stereo system. We went out one of the weekends I spent there and found a nice one for a reasonable price but it had to be assmebled. Needless to say, I spent the rest of that day putting it together for her.

Gail is also into entering Sweepstakes on the Internet, so one weekend we spent surfing the Web seeing how many and what kind of sweepstakes we could find. There's so amny of them out there. The two main places we found for sweepstakes is WebStakes and Sweepstakes Online. Gail won a very nice Epson Digital Camera from WebStakes. Now all she has to do is get a computer to use it with!! Maybe she'll get lucky and win one of those too.

Ayway, We're now planning on how we're going to spend our summer. We've already coordinated our vacation times although she's taking a couple more weeks than I am. We're talking about spending a week in San Diego visiting Sea World and Balboa Park where they have the San Diego Zoo and some very nice museums. We also plan to spend a week driving up to Northern California and just siteseeing. The rest of the time, we'll probably just bum around either her place or mine. Well, that brings everything up to date for now. Since this coming weekend is a 3 day for July 4th, I'll be driving over there to spend the time with Gail. Regular 2 day weekends just don't seem long enough!!

1/99 - OK folks, its been a while since I've updates this page and a lot has happened since my last entry. Gail and I are still seeing each other as much as we possably can and spending our time in between visits chatting via email daily!!

So anyway, we had a wonderful summer in which we coordinated our vacation times so we could spend them together. The first week we spent together was towards the end of July in which we went to San Diego and visited Sea World and the San Diego Zoo at Balboa Park. Had a wonderful time, but we were both completely wore out after that. We're neither use to all that walking around. After 2 days of walking around Sea World and a day at the Zoo we were finished with our walking so we came back to my place until we both had to go back to work.
The second week we could spend together was at the end of August and it turned out to be quite a visit. Gail had finally broken down and bought herself a computer and then got a cabinet to put it in. Since she doesn't do anything halfway, she got a full P-II 400 with a 17" monitor and a computer hutch that completely closes up!! My task during the visit was to assemble the hutch then set-up her computer and teach her how to use it. It started out OK as I unpacked the 2 very large boxes of pieces to the hutch then went downhill from there. I got the whole thing unpacked and all the pieces laid out around her apartment and found that the assemble instructions were missing!! This is not one of those cheap things that you can assemble without the directions!!!!

She had bought is out of town but at a major store that had one there. So we went to the store and after some argument and running one sales girl off, got them to make a copy of a set of instructions out of one of the sets of boxes they had there in stock!!! This was late on a Saturday evening so I didn't start the assembly process until the next morning. Everything seeme to be going fine until I got about halfway through and discovered that they had given us only half the directions!! Not fun!! So back to the store we went to get the rest of the directions. Finally got the thing put together and her computer all set up.

As with anything new, there's bound to be a couple startup problems. The first one we ran into was that the installed modem wasn't compatable with the ISP we selected. That took a while to sorted out and get the modem replaced. Also, after a week of use, the monitor died. We took it back and got a loaner while they shipped it back for replacement and the loaner died too. It was the same make and model as the original. Went back and got another loaner while they sorted out their monitor problems!! We finally got the computer properly configured and everything working by about the end of September.

We had finally settled back into our normal routine of every other weekend visits and were making plans for Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays when I up and have a Heart Attack. Wound up in ER on Friday, November 13th and ended up getting a triple bypass on November 18th!! They say I'm going to be OK with a few changes to my lifestyle. Mainly eating better and and getting more exercise!!! Then to make matters worse, when Gail came to visit me in the hospital some idiot ran a Stop Sign smashing into her car totalling it!! Luckly she wasn't hurt bad but has been having some problems with her neck. The big thing is fighting with the insurance companies to get everything taken care of. She's still fighting with them!!

Anyway, we didn't get to spend Thanksgiving together as we had planned for me to drive over there and spend it with her and her family. I didn't get out of the hospital until the 22nd and was told no driving for 4 to 6 weeks and that I'd be off work for 6 to 8 weeks. I'm allowed to drive around locally now but still off work and our visits are now restricted to when Gail can come over to my place. I'm hoping that I'll be cleared to drive again and return to work within another week.

Needless to say we didn't get to spend Christmas together either, but gail was able to come over the week after Christmas to pick me up and we went back to her place for a week before she had to bring me back home. She had to go back to work and I had some doctor appointments to go to!!!

That pretty much brings us up to date. Its hard to believe its only been a year now since we met over the Internet!!

9/99 - OK folks, its been a while again since I've made any updates this page but not much has happened since my last entry like last time. Gail and I are still seeing each other as much as we possably can and spending our time in between visits chatting via email daily!!

So far this year's been pretty routine between us but has been a total zoo around us. First I got tired of having to constantly repair my car and bought me a slightly used pickup truck. I also went through a major contract change at work the first part of the year that turned everything upside down to the point where they still don't know what they're doing. Then my stepdaughter decided to get married then end of this month which luckly I haven't been dragged into the preparation very much!! Then Gail's daughter met a guy over the Internet earlier this year and theyre planning to get married in November!! Now, they're planning a big fancy wedding and Gail is heavely involved in the planning and preparation for it!!! Also, her son got involved in a nasty accident on his motorcycle that he was lucky to come away from alive. He is still recuperating from it and will for a while yet.

Needless to say, with all this going on plus having my youngest daughter going to college, neither of us could afford much of a vacation this year!! So what we did was I spent our vacation time at her place and we just bummed around the Santa Barbara, CA area a few weeks. We each bought ourselves a Mountain Bike and we rode around the bike paths around there and down along the beaches!! One thing we did do was take a number of pictures on our bike rides and walks along the beaches with her Digital Camera. Check out a Photo Album I put together with pictures we took and others we scanned.

9/01 - Doesn't seem that long since I've updated this page, but I guess it has!! I've been really busy at work due to some major changes at my place of employment You can read more about that by visiting my Look at the Sky page below. Other than that, there really hasn't been many changes. Gail and I are still seeing each other whenever possible and chatting via email daily unless one or the other is out of town. I still try to get over there at least once a month where we just spend some time relaxing. Been trying to arrange a fishing trip on one of my visits, but we just never seem to have the time or energy! "LOL" I hope people can find this page again since the Free Web Page service I was using went belly up and lost my site. I'm rebuilding it here where it should stay for a while.

If anyone visiting this site would like me to continue our saga or has any suggestions for us, just send an email to SpaceJockey or Seabreeezz. BTW, the backgraound music is one of her favorite tunes by one of our favorite all time greatest groups. See if you can identify it. Drop us a line and let us know what you think of this page. If you're interested, I've been working on a couple of personal pages you can check out. Just look for How I Relax These Days!! or SpaceJockey's Look at the Sky. Also, if you happen to see our little friend here wandering around, let Gail know. She's been looking all over for him!!!
