| SECTION 1 Intro Everybody is a Victim Considerate of Others Everything is Relative English Language Reasonable People Can Disagree |
Is it just me or does it seem like things are going to hell in a hand-basket? Everybody is rude and self-centered. The means always justifies the ends. People, especially younger people are out of control and if you say anything, then you're the bad guy. Things are completely upside down. Everybody is a Victim Nobody has any accountability. If something happens its always somebody else's fault. Just recently there was a news piece about minorities continuing to score lower than average on standardized tests in California. Did the student have anything to do with their low test scores? Did problems at home or in the community cause some inability to study or focus on school-work? NO! These kids were victims of a school system that was obviously racist. Never mind that the minority students were attending the very same classes as non-minority students. How could a student possibly be responsible for their own schoolwork? How could a student possibly be responsible for their own abilities? It was "society" keeping them from excelling. If it wasn't so sickening it would almost be comical, like the "Officer Krupke" song in West Side Story. Considerate of Others Everywhere you go you see kids behaving like little monsters. Screaming. Rude. And you can see where they get it from: their parents. Parents that seemingly believe the world owes them something. That they can be self-centered, loud, and obnoxious. But if anybody else is the same, or heaven-forbid somebody actually says something, then that person is lucky if they only get verbally attacked. When I was growing up, if I had behaved as most adults today my father would have given me "what-for." Children a couple decades ago were encouraged to be inoffensive and to be considerate of others. Considerate of others. Can you believe it? What an atrocity!!! How could anybody keep their radio volume down so as to not disturb the neighbors? While driving, how could anybody possibly let someone into the lane in front of them when they are signaling to do so? Outrageous! Outlandish! Unheard of! If I was misbehaving, say writing on the walls, or scratching cars, or stealing and someone told my father, assuming the source was credible I was in for a bad time. Nowadays parents encourage children to do whatever they want to. The effect on society is that we are nurturing a generation of criminal monsters for which everything is relative. "Stealing cars is fine because the ends justifies the means." Being considerate of others is the oil in the machinery of society. Everything is Relative? The '60s and '70s taught us that being judgmental was wrong and selfish. Judging, or judgment is good. Without determining if something is "good" or "bad" then everything is the same. Shopping at the grocery store is the same as raping my neighbor. Wait a minute. You say "raping my neighbor" is wrong? How dare you judge me! Everything needs to be judged. Everything is not just neutral or "well, that's how things are these days." We are society. We as people determine what is acceptable. If somebody doesn't stand up for what they think is right, then everything will be neutral. Here's some criteria: Are you hurting somebody else.
Hello all you morons with loud stereos. Turn 'em down before
somebody less kind than me comes by. The only time it is acceptable
to hurt someone else is if they in turn are harming someone. And I'm
not talking about spouses fighting and being spiteful, I'm talking about
people assaulting, killing, etc. others. Be judgmental. But be smart about it. Bias The English Language Language is the cornerstone of society and the glue that keeps any society together. Societal cohesiveness keeps everybody moving in more or less the same direction. Reasonable People Can Disagree Two really smart, lucid, well balanced people can have completely different opinions. That's just life. |
