Kings Canyon Finally, I got back here, my favorite place in the Sierras. I completely missed it last year. I wanted to go despite the fact that the rains and floods closed much of the park and restricted travel. This year Lisa and I were able to take an extended weekend and see it while the river was high and patches of snow still remained on the ground. Another wet year meant the canyon was full of wildflowers of all varieties

Catalina  After living most of my life in Southern California, I finally got across the bay to Catalina. Lisa and I spent Memorial Day weekend here soaking in the beautiful weather and doing all the touristy things, the glass bottom boat, inland tour to view buffalo, a walk to the casino, a cruise to the isthmus with an evening return to view the flying fish.

Coalinga & Montana de Oro-Coalinga you ask? Our friends, AKA Damaged Californias, are making a film, Wanderlust, set for the most part on a Chilean island, Central California is the stand-in. The sets are also remote. Campsites really, and our friends remembering how much Lisa and I like to cook, especially in a campsite invited us along to do Craft Services (i.e. Camp Cooks) for a couple shoots. Believe you me, Lisa and I can be quite creative out in the wild

Houston in Coalinga

San Francisco-No cityscapes to share this time, as I rode out amidst the worst of El Niņo, leaving the rain of LA to follow the storm path to San Francisco. I had to spend most of my time indoors, but I did get to see an all Balanchine performance by the Dance Theater of Harlem. Still the trip was well worth it, my first after many months of way too many hours spent in the office.

Travels with Samantha This is a great road trip from Boston to Alaska, to the Pacific Northwest. This is one of my dream trips. I fantasize about taking my Honda up the Alaska Highway on it's last journey. I've got 136,000 mile on that car so this may have to happen soon.
