Submission Guidelines:
Thank you for your interest in Images of a Lifetime. We look for compelling, professional quality images that will perform well in our collection. If you feel your images have what it takes, we want to hear from you.
We need well composed, high quality images shot on professional grade slide film. Where possible, leave space around the subject for copy. Let the critic inside you speak, edit your submission and show us your best!
How to make submissions:
For your initial submission, please forward 100 of your best images for us to review. These images should give us insight into your photographic style - we look for originality and expertise. Image submissions are accepted in the following formats: 35mm slides & digital images on CD, Zip Disk(tm), or by FTP. If you wish to make your initial submission as a low res digital portfolio by FTP please contact us for detailed instructions. Accurate captions are a must! Whether you are submitting a digital or traditional portfolio make sure you identify your work clearly. Include all pertinent information for each image you submit. If your portfolio is digital, include a list that identifies every image. If your portfolio consists of slides, (traditional) ensure that each slide is accurately identified.
Shipping Tips:
First off, we recommend a reputable courier whenever sending your images to anyone. Once you have chosen a delivery method, ensure that you package your submission well. For disks, use extra cardboard, or bubble wrap. For slides we suggest you use archival quality slide sheets fixed in a three ring binder or secured between two sheets of cardboard, wrapped in plastic & packaged an equal sized box or large padded envelope. Make it bomb proof! (please don't write anything about bombs on the package - it is a good idea to indicate that your package is FRAGILE though...). When filling out a customs declaration, indicate the contents as "Sample photographs - no commercial value". We will not pay duty on any submissions.
Review & Acceptance Procedure:
If your work meets our standards we will send our contract for your consideration. Our contract is for a two-year duration and is non-exclusive which means you are free to market your images elsewhere. Keep in mind however, that exposure through other agencies may result in lower prices for your work as the client can obtain the same image from more than one agency and this may result in competitive pricing.
Commissions:
Our (standard) rate of commission is 50% on all images licensed. A cheque for any sales made on your behalf will be issued no later than thirty days from the date our client remits payment for the image use. You receive 50% of the gross sale.
Model & Property Releases:
Once we accept your work for inclusion in our main image database, we will require a photocopy of your model releases for all identifiable persons or properties (where required) in the images we select.
