May 5
I got to sleep in. Oh the joy!
After eating breakfast, I went with Josh and Anna to Westminster Abbey for one of the Sunday services.
It was pretty...um...incredible (I know I've vastly overused this word, but it was). Especially since it was the singing services, so we got to hear the choir in there. It was beautiful with the acoustics and reverberation. I was quite envious.
(Big Ben happened to be close by)
After the service, we went back to the hotel for warmer clothes because it was rainy and windy and really cold. From the hotel we went to the British Museum to see the Rosetta Stone (a request from Mom).
Saw a bunch of other exhibits as well. Probably could have spent a week in there, but only had an hour or so. Then we ate and went shopping (Anna still had stuff to buy). We meandered our way through England, accidentally going through the less frequented portions and eventually arrived at 221B Baker Street, the site of the Sherlock Holmes Museum (Josh is an English major).
Then we went back into central London, Leichester Square area, and walked. We ended up at the Rainforst Cafe and ate there. Josh didn't feel good, so he went back to the hotel, leaving Anna and I without enough cash to cover the bill. Fortunately, they took my debit card (a great relief). The food was good, and so was the service. It was quite an elaborate place, animatronics, dense foliage, and thunder and lightning every now and then.
After that it was back to the hotel. Josh and I watched the Snooker Championship and managed to figure out the rules of the game pretty well. Then it was off to bed. The sheets there are nuts. The top cover was about an inch thick and weighed a good ten pounds (or more). I slept well regardless.
