Body

This is a Westcott's body, a "California highboy special." It was accidentally ordered without a windscreen dam, (designed for a DuVal windshield as can be seen in the above picture).

I did not want to use a DuVal and opted for the very cool windshield. The front of the SoCal fits flush in front of the dam similar to the way a DuVal fits. There is a problem with the rear dam. I had to re create the dam. This turned out to be easier that I expected.

Westcott's makes the best body bar none, the quality of the glass and the steel reinforcement is great. Every thing fits! Even the SoCal windshield. I was watching someone put the SoCal windshield on a cheap glass body and there must have been a half-inch gap that they were going to have to fill.

here are some photos showing the progress:

The above shows the work done to recreate the dam. I used scotch tape to keep the Body putty from sticking to the brass. Also I squirted the bondo from a zip-lock bag through a cut out corner, like fancy cake frosting. Use the long fiber body putty for extra strength for the first couple of applications. Then use the normal Body putty for the final finishing and shaping.

I chose to fill the tack strips for that smooth clean look behind the seat. The brookville and some other glass bodies done this for you.
