Cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, Dec. 28-31, 1998

Here are a few photos from our cruise to Ensenada. There are a couple more coming...

Me, Scott, Dad and Mom during the lifeboat muster drill. They put you on this lovely ship, then scare you by making you put on your lifejackets and line up by fours (men in the back, women and children in the front) and go over the rules of who gets on the lifeboats first in case the ship starts to sink.

Scott and I at the Vinicola L.A. Cetto Winery in Ensenada. This place was a 30-minute bus ride away from the dock, through the Ensenada countryside. I liked the white zinfandel, but didn't like the red wines at all.

Scott and I in front of our ship, the Viking Serenade. It's part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise line, commissioned in 1987 and redone in 1990.

Ah... the midnight buffet! No cruise would be complete without at least one visit. Here's a shot of Scott and I in front of a dragon which was made (I think) out of butter, some colored with food coloring. Pretty impressive, eh?
Here's a picture of some of the decorated foods.
And these little penguins are actually made out of hard-boiled eggs and olives! Mom wanted to take one home, but by the time she got around to snatching one, they were all gone.

Scott considered this "working out together" -- even though we were on opposite sides of the workout room doing completely different things. I'm the one in the blue shorts and white tank top to the left of this pic. The instructor (the guy in the white shirt and blue pants) was actually one of the dancers from the ship's evening show.

And here's Mr. Sweaty -- ewww.
