First, we flew from Los Angeles to New York's Kennedy Airport.
We flew over a lot of really cold and snowy-looking places.
We had dinner the first night at a really good Cuban restaurant called "Victors". It was only a couple of blocks from the hotel, which was a nice walk despite the cold. Here's a banner that was hanging from the Trump Tower, advertising the show "The Apprentice".
On the second day, we spent the morning shopping for beads (yes, Scott even went into the stores with me - he was such a good sport, he didn't even take me up on the beer I offered him afterwards!) and had lunch at a little pizzeria called Figaro's.
During our wanders, we went by the skating rink at Rockefeller Center to watch people skating. They looked like they were having a lot of fun.
That evening we had dinner at Barbetto's, a reeeeaalllly good Italian restaurant, and saw the show "Movin' Out" at the Richard Rogers Theater. "Movin' Out" is a really fabulous show - lots of great music and high-energy dancing, including a ballerina who actually skidded across the stage in her toe shoes on pointe - three times. I've never seen a ballerina do that before. I was worn out just from watching the show (not the fact that we were sitting up in the third level of seats and the only restrooms in the place were down in the basement level!)
The "famous" corner building in Times Square was decorated so it looked like giant cars had run had-first into the building.
On Saturday we drove out of New York City and into Brewster where we met Scott's newer nephew, Richard. He was about seven weeks old, and very cute. Scott's mom and her friend Charlie came out to have lunch with us.
Scott doesn't look too nervous, does he?
Scott's pretending he doesn't notice the dogs, Max and Roxie, checking out his technique with the baby.
Oh no -- It must be burping time. Richard's not too fond of burping time.
Scott: "Come on , little dude. You're only seven weeks old - it's okay to burp!"
Richard: "Really, Uncle Scott? Are you sure?"
Even the dogs want to hear the answer to that one!
Looks like all that work to make him burp actually knocked him out. Poor little guy! Maybe he thought he could just sleep through the burping.
One of the goodies we brought was the new Cassini DVD that talks about the space mission that Karen works on. That's what Sue and Charlie are watching.
Awwwww! It's a really comfy sleep all snuggled up against Uncle Scott.
Each boy gets his own afternoon bottle.
Little Richard's family with Uncle Scott, and then with me. I think this is the only picture I'm in from the entire trip.
Saturday night after dinner we headed off to Danbury, CT on our way to Massachusetts. Here's the view from the hotel parking lot the next morning. Brrrrr!
When we arrived at Paul and Greta's house, Maya was very happy to have more toys to play with - in this case the toy was Uncle Scott!
Her favorite game for the afternoon was "Mouse, Mouse, Where's My Cheese" in which someone would leave the room while someone else hid a toy block of cheese. Then, they'd come back and have to ask questions to the folks in the room as to the location of said cheese. Maya got very creative about where she put the cheese, as you can tell.
Hey Greta! I think Paul's forgetting that Maya just ate a HUGE dinner!!
Shaking Maya down for the cheese.
Aidan loves his sippy cup!
The next day we were off to Boston Logan Airport for our plane ride home. A successful visit with everyone!
