If you think Slick Willie is not a Communist,
take a careful look at his own words!

The absence of "Old Glory" from this page is intentional. I would never disrespect or disgrace the flag of the United States of America by displaying it on a page of which Slick Willie is the primary topic of discussion.

.. a lot of the Asian societies that are doing very well now have low crime rates and high economic growth rates, partly because they have very coherent societies with strong units where the unit is more important than the individual, whether it's the family unit or the work unit or the community unit.

My own view is that you can go to the extreme in either direction. And when we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving(1) a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans, it was assumed that the Americans who had that freedom would use it responsibly. That is, when we set up this country, abuse of people by government was a big problem(2). So if you read the Constitution, it's rooted in the desire to limit the scope of government's ability to mess with you(3), because that was a huge problem. It can still be a huge problem. But it assumed that people would basically be raised in coherent families, in coherent communities, and they would work for the common good, as well as for the individual welfare(4).

What's happened in America today is, too many people live in areas where there's no family structure, no community structure, and no work structure(5). And so there's a lot of irresponsibility(6). And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused(7), you have to move to limit it(8). That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities. So that's my answer to you. We can have -- the more personal freedom a society has, the more personal responsibility a society needs(9), and the more strength you need out of your institutions -- family, community and work(10).

-- Bill Clinton, President(11) of the United States, on MTV's "Enough Is Enough."

Footnotes - My commentary on Clinton's ideas and motives as expressed in his own words

  1. The Constitution did not grant individual liberty to the American citizen; the Constitution acknowledged that individual liberty is innate to a human being and that it is the province of government to protect as guarantor those innate and inalienable individual rights. The Founding Fathers made it clear in the Declaration of Independence that government was NOT the source of man's rights implicitly declaring that government cannot legitimately revoke individual rights. Government's purpose is to preserve and defend the individual's right to self-determination in any independent endeavor against any who would abrogate and violate those rights.

  2. He finally gets it right on this call but not for the reason he wants you to believe. To this point in mankind's recorded history, a society had never acknowledged the idea that the individual should be accorded freedom of choice and action. Governments were either genetically transmitted by inheritance of the throne or the thug able to wield the biggest stick and pound his opponents into submission or death. It was never considered that a government was anything but the master of its subjects (a concept which Slick Willie seems to embrace enthusiastically). It was this thug mentality against which the Founding Fathers constructed the Constitution as a protection of the individual citizen's rights. And it is against this very concept that William Jefferson Clinton argues in this address.

  3. I refer you to an article on Judicial Watch so you can read for yourself how Mr. Clinton doesn't seem to be particularly troubled by these constraints posed by the Constitution. This report is quite lengthy and requires some determination but it is well written and very informative. The information provided here is solid grounds for impeachment and imprisonment of Slick Willie but Congress seems content to ignore the real evidence.

  4. Note here how he places the individual working for the good of society ahead of the individual working for his own benefit. This is another not-so-subtle clue that Slick Willie believes strongly that the individual's freedom is rightly subordinated to the "common good" (the fundamental concept underlying all collectivist forms of society). This is a necessary rhetorical ploy to try and convince the inattentive that they must put the welfare of others ahead of their own, thus paving the way for such men as himself to "show them the way" into slavery!

  5. Again, he states facts with the implication that individual liberty is the cause. This is simply a continuation of his pattern of misinformation lying to avoid responsibility. These facts are the result of the implementation of thirty plus years of the government programs of which Clinton is a strong proponent which has taken a tremendous economic and social toll on America. The welfare state is designed to get people onto the welfare rolls and keep them there by making the transition off a punishingly difficult process.

  6. Virtually every human being seeks to better his lot in life. That is the nature of mankind. Those who have constructed the welfare state realize that by taking this away from a man, you now have removed his soul and taken control of whatever humanity remained. He cannot get away from the control of the government without significant strength, courage and suffering and for many people, it is easier to endure the indignity of the perpetual meager handouts from the welfare state. These handouts being nothing more than property stolen from those who have earned it and given to those who have not earned them by those who would not or could not earn it. This program of government handouts which rewards laziness and surrender while punishing ambition and accomplishment is what has fostered the irresponsibility against which Slick Willie rails; it is his programs which are to blame for the things in America he criticizes yet he will never acknowledge any responsibility for it.
He wants to blame the failure on individual freedom in his quest to eliminate the Constitutional guarantee of the same (except, of course, for those elite and enlightened in leadership positions such as himself!) His quest for POWER is threatened by the concept of individual freedom and this is intolerable to those whose sense of self-esteem is derived from their position of authority to decide the disposition of the lives and property of others.

  7. How ludicrous that this unconscionable thug talks of the abuses of personal freedoms! He wants to convey the idea that exercise of one's individual rights is an abuse! This statement is so preposterously asinine that it should offend every American! He is responsible for some of the most blatant violations of personal freedoms in American history and in his usual fashion is trying to play with his words to negate his outrageously criminal actions. If you think otherwise:

  8. It is no accident that Clinton makes this declaration. With the abuses of power he has committed and administered in his, the most ethical administration in history, it is only logical that his concern is to lessen the restrictions on the power of government. It is because of just such men as Clinton that the Founding Fathers saw the need to institute a government of laws not men with the Constitution of the United States as the instrument of restraint on the power of any governing body. Unfortunately, they were naive enough to expect that the laws would be respected by those in positions to exercise the power of government. I cannot imagine in my wildest hallucinations that the Founding Fathers ever foresaw the election of a man such as Clinton to the White House or any other position of responsibility in government. The fact that it has happened is a statement of the disgraceful state to which American politics has sunk.
It is my considered opinion that the Democrats scraped the bottom of the barrel looking for candidates for the Oval Office and finding nothing, overturned the barrel whereupon the Clinton's slithered out.

  9. These words from a man whose primary endeavor has been to get into place laws and government programs that subvert individual responsibilities. If more individual responsibility is what he advocates, why does he oppose the proposals to reduce taxes and give people their money back along with the responsibility to pay their own way in life? Instead, he supports laws and programs that take more and more from those who earn it leaving less and less to those who put forth the effort to succeed. He does not seek to support or reward responsibility; his most ardent efforts are to punish and discourage it!
His and Hillary's health care swindle was nothing more than the attempt through government force of arms to seize control of the lives and property of doctors, nurses, and hospitals in the United States and turn them into government controlled and administered property.
Is this how one supports and enforces individual responsibility; by taking from people their means to be responsible and self-supporting? Not in the real world; perhaps it works in his fantasy world.
Here, as an advocate of individual responsibility, is a man who perjured himself in a sworn deposition to avoid responsibility for his personal actions in a civil lawsuit. Is this someone who can with any credibility at all speak as an advocate for individual rights and responsibility? Not with any thinking, reasoning person possessed of any morality or ethics whatsoever!

  10. Note one consistency throughout this address. Clinton always speaks in terms of some group or another; never of individuality. It is always the family unit, the work unit, the community unit. This is not the thinking of someone who values individual rights and freedoms, the corollary of which is responsibility; rather this is the attitude of the collectivist who sees mankind as a herd animal; as the means to some greater ends; in the case of Clinton, his personal gain and his historical image. Clinton seems obsessed with what people think of him but cares nothing about real achievements and morality; only whatever perception he can create of these things in the minds of others. And sadly today, if the polls have any validity at all, there are far too many people in America who are so bereft of morals, ethics, principles and values that he is selling this crap successfully!
Note in the opening statement his admiration for the Asian people. Also note that by and large, Asian people are under the rule of Communism ". . . where the unit is more important than the individual . . ."! It is this form of government which Clinton so admires that he would like it instituted in the United States of America to replace our current system. He apparently is not satisfied that our present system is migrating steadily toward collectivism (Socialism); he wants the process to occur while he's still in charge. I guess he figures that would make it a sure thing to install himself as the first Premier of the Union of Soviet Socialist America (or perhaps as King Willie I)!

  11. The term President applied to this sleazy treasonous criminal is a gross misapplication of the term. This thug has never been and is not capable of being a President. To apply this title to him is to dishonor and denigrate the names and personna of the men who have performed admirably in this office. It is even a proverbial 'slap in the face' to the Jimmy Carter presidency which was in my estimation the worst in American history under the administration of a terribly inept, unkempt, ineffectual and untalented bumpkin whose magnificance gave us the EPA which the American Communists and Socialists (primarily the Democratic Party) are now using as a tool for even more intrustion into the lives of American citizens!
