Born in Bolton, Northwest England. Brought up in an artistic and musical family, he was encouraged from an early age to paint and draw from his surroundings.
Academically trained at Bolton Art College, achieving his Diploma in General Art and Design, and later attaining a HND in Visual Communication at North East Wales Institute, Wrexham North Wales.
He has pursued an artistic career since leaving college, ranging from Freelance Illustration, Advertising, Traditional Animation, and for the past decade has been specializing in Computer Graphics, Designing, Modeling and Texture Mapping for the Video Game Industry.
Major influences in his career have been many and varied, of the traditional painters of the last century, the likes of John Singer Sargent remains at the top of the list, others include, Monet, Merritt Chase, Dennis Bunker, Constable, Augustus John, Zorn, Sorolla, and many others.
Of the modern masters he has many favorites, and too many to name them all, but having recently met one of his all time heroes of Fantasy Art, Frank Frazetta, he has a new respect for the modern master, and rates him as the Michelangelo of this past century, and a painter and illustrator that is looked up to by many peers.
Currently, Martin is living in Southern California with his wife Fiona. He is also attending the California Art Institute on a regular basis, where Academic and Classical, painting and drawing techniques are being kept alive.
