Condensate is an extremely valuable resource. It is a source of high purity water for boiler feed, often being of better purity than the makeup water source. Since most condensate is hotter than the makeup water it is also a source of energy, that reduces the quantity of fuel that must be burned for steam generation.

When condensate is not recovered it is frequently necessary to increase the boiler blowdown rate, increasing both the quantity of makeup water required and the quantity of heat lost. Also, unrecovered condensate usually finds its way to the waste treatment plant, increasing costs in this area. In a large plant or mill, an increase of one percent condensate recovery may be worth several hundred thousand dollars per year.

Our representative will work with you to identify the potential savings; nevertheless, the total value of condensate recovery is difficult to quantify. It includes the "total condensate return savings".

It also includes non-quantifiable items such as improved boiler reliability and steam purity due to better quality feedwater. Also, in certain parts of the world the reduction in use of fresh water supplies is of value. In nearly every industrial facility condensate is a valuable resource, one that is often wasted.
