Assist in the management of a network consisting of 1 SCO Unix and 6 NT 4.0 servers. Expanded the network using VPN Connections on Windows 2000 workstations to 38 Terminals Across the US and Canada. Maintained an Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000 e-mail environment. Duties included the installation, configuration and testing of hardware. Installation of software, troubleshoot the installation and interaction with vendor support for problems. Configure and deploy computer systems across the US and Canada. Build good working relationships with the field personnel and vendors. Maintain backup system using backup exec software. Perform server upgrades of hardware or software.

Toshiba - Helpdesk

Phone support for all models of portable computers.  Troubleshooting a wide variety of problems on the phone with many different operating systems including Windows 95, 98, NT Workstation 4.0 and Windows 2000.

 

Enpointe Technologies – Systems Upgrade Support

Team member for upgrade of 3000 computers for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. Install Service Packs 3, 4 and 5 on NT Workstations.  Also install new McAfee antivirus programs with newest DAT files. 

 

Yamaha Music Corp, USA – User Support

Troubleshooting hardware on Dell workstations and IBM Think Pads.  Installed operating systems in new workstations and customized software to meet user needs.  Expedite the return of expired computer leases.  In house support for software problems in Windows 95 and 98 both in person and on the phone.  Interact with vendor software support services on the phone or on the Internet to resolve compatibility and connectivity conflicts.  Troubleshoot connectivity and printing problems in a mixed NT 4.0, Novell 4.11 and Sun Systems Unix network environment.  Worked with a variety of software including Norton Ghost, Norton Antivirus, Goldmine, Visio, Oracle Database Applications, WinCoins, Citrix, Microsoft Office 97 and Novell’s Groupwise 5x.

Responsible for analysis of customer needs then, meeting those needs while working within their budget.  Created networks from the ground up.  Build servers and workstations then connecting them with wiring, hubs switches and routers.  Install Microsoft or Novell network operating systems.  Install and configure TCP/IP in accordance with RFC 1918. Created systems policies and security using NT server software.  Implemented fault tolerance in an NT network.  Installed wiring closets and connected printers with HP Jet Direct cards. Installed workstations operating systems Windows 95, 98 & NT 4.0.  Installed workstation software Microsoft Office 95 & 97, Lotus Smart Suite, Corel Word Perfect, Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Intuit Quickbooks, Peachtree, Diskeeper, and Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.  Worked independently managing time and resources.

Operations Management

Managed up to 15 full and part time personnel.  Maintained an $11,000 inventory.  Planned and worked within a budget.  I implemented successful recycling campaign and was responsible for meeting customer deadlines in a fast paced environment. I worked with some of the first computerized photocopiers at Xerox.
