How To Identify Your PlayStation 2 Model: |

Before you begin the PS2 repair process, you must determine which version PS2 you have.
Refer to the serial number found on the sticker on the back of the PS2 unit, or if needed open console and match your motherboard with the proper diagram. |

Serial Number on rear of machine begins with:
version
1 = serial number (refer to
yellow rectangle in right of image) start with
"U1" and has 10 case screws.
version 2 = serial number (refer to
yellow rectangle in right of image) start with
"U0" and has 10 case screws.
version 3 = serial number (refer to
yellow rectangle in right of image) start with
"U2" and has 10 case screws.
version 4 = serial number (refer to
yellow rectangle in right of image) start with 'U3' 'U4' 'U5' or a 'U6' and has a total of 8 case screws.
version 5 = model number contains the letter 'R'
(refer to the red rectangle in right side of image) at the end (example SCPH-30001
R).
version 7 =
3900X is the new PS2 Version 7

Additional Information for identify the V5 & V6 PS2 consoles |

The Playstation 2
V5 & V6 Models usually with a model no. SCPH-3x00xR while the X can stand for different numbers (SCPH-30001, SCPH-30002, SCPH-30003, SCPH-30004, SCPH-30005, SCPH-30006, SCPH-30007 etc, but also also SCPH-35001
etc). If the model is correct, please open the Expansion Bay to check if your unit has the screws like in picture 2 and also check the connector like in Picture A in order to make your decision if you need the V5 or V6 verison of the No Solder Chip. |
