My wife recently rescued a blind undernourished five year old cocker spaniel from a difficult environment. Because of her condition she was not able to compete with the three larger dogs for food. She weighed only 20 pounds, her coat was dirty, smelly and dingy, but the worst problem was her very bad breath. After a good bath and several nourishing meals (she gulped her food down ravenously), a trip to the vet confirmed that her bad breath was caused by advanced gum disease (gingivitis). You can see by the swollen redness in the photos the poor condition of her teeth and gums. Click on the photos for a closer view.
A friend had gargled with Body-GaardTM once a day to clear up a chronic condition of gingivitis in just a few days. I decided to treat the dog in the same way. The undiluted Pet-GaardTM (which has the same active ingredient as Body-GaardTM) has a mild metallic taste. The dog would not drink it until I added a half teaspoon of milk to about a half ounce of Pet-GaardTM. After only two days her breath was much improved, though still far from fresh. I will continue with the daily treatments until her gums are completely healed. At that time she will receive maintenance treatment by drinking from the treated water described here. I should mention that our four year old cocker spaniel had enjoyed drinking this treated water for several years and his breath is quite fresh (except for when we share our garlic chicken with him). Well, none of us are perfect. Bio-GaardTM
products can help you control your environment to minimize the chance of
infection and disease.
