I am the proud owner of two cocker spaniels.  This breed is often referred to as "the dogs with $1,000 ears" because they are so prone to getting them infected (long ears and so much hair, you know).  To be sure, when the first dog arrived (the one on the left), he had a raging infection in both ears.  He was constantly scratching and rubbing his ears on the rug in an attempt to get relief.  The poor animal had to be sedated in order to "deep clean" his ears.  The cost of this procedure alone was several hundred dollars.

We tried cleaning with Q-tips and using several kinds of liquid drops with no significant success.  His ears never got so bad that he had to be sedated again, but he was always suffering.

 Because Pet-GaardTM works so well on infections I thought it would be a natural for treating his ears ... or so I thought.  I warmed the dropper bottle in my hand so it would not be a cold shock when the liquid dropped into his ears.

Whether it was due to the sensitivity of his ears or just not appreciating getting water in them (I hate that too), the treatment was not successful at all.  He immediately shook his head to get all the water out of his ears.  I considered holding him on his side for a few minutes to allow the liquid to reach the deepest part of his ears, but since he was new to our home I did not want to create fear of being treated.

  Happily, the vet recommended using a dry powder.  It works great.  We clean the outer ear using Q-tips, then puff a small amount of the powder into each ear.  Since using the powder there has been no reoccurrence of problems with his ears
